TEXTURE MAPS

This image illustrates the difference between 3D objects that are either texture mapped or flat shaded/colored. Object 2 is texture mapped and it has more detail, e.g. texture on the tracks, shade under the top part of the tank. This image looks real. Object 1 get surface dimensions through the use of color, but this technique makes the image look less 'real' than that which is texture mapped.
